About

About Me:

I am a photographer based out of India. My passion lies in capturing images of people I’m intrigued by—their faces, the stories behind them, their lifestyles, cultures, and traditions. I like endlessly roaming around the streets, wherever I go, and spend time learning and understanding my subjects. Also, as is apparent from my blog, I do have a soft corner for portraits and images in black and white! If you would like to work with me for assignments and commissioned works, get in touch with me here.

About This Photoblog:

On August 1, 2008 I started this photoblog to showcase the images of people that I shoot  and creating images for this photoblog has always been an exciting and fulfilling challenge. As a mark of my fondness for black and white, this site uses only different shades of grey for all its elements.

  1. Have just started a blog here – I recently started to blog on steemit.com
Anyway, I just wanted to compliment you on your work – wonderful balanced but evocative colour and the intensity of the subject is very cool – I am no photographer but i know a few very good ones – I am an amateur with a camera which I got off a Reuters photojournalist – Canon D40 – I love it and I hate it – just as any woman!!
    Namaste!

      1. I do quite a few posts about photographers and artists. If you would like me to do one about you and your work, let me know – the post will bring people here if they choose to follow up.
There are some recent examples – the photo ones are very photo oriented – the artist ones tend to have more commentary as I tend to post about artists whom I know/have known

  5. Hi Joshi,

A big fan of your artworks. I’ve built a motion photography app – Movense (http://www.movense.com). It’s used by users to capture selfies and life in 360 degree motion effect. Would be grateful if you give it a try and capture some amazing portraits out of it in 360 motion.

Looking forward to seeing your upcoming artworks.

  6. Hi Joshi, thanks for checking out my blog. I really like your photos and will be travelling in India for a few months starting in April and am wondering if you would be interested in collaborating on something, even just a short project for a couple of days?

      1. Hi Joshi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I will be there from April 15th until the middle of June, though the dates may change slightly. I will be in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala, Rajastan and Rishikesh. I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a street shoot session, where we could go out potentially with a theme in mind and try to capture a group of shots – it could be portraits or a story about a place. I will make an article about it and promote it on my blog. I really like your photos and it would also be a great experience for me to be with a local photographer and have a chance to connect with local people better. Let me know if you are interested.

        Thanks

        Adam

    1. Why don’t you try just shooting with 35mm for some time and see and may be you can start a personal project or something. I think focusing on one lens especially a fixed lens will challenge you a lot.

  29. I can’t believe I’m just now reading your about page, as it’s one of my favorite pages to read on people’s blogs. I too enjoy learning the stories of those I find intriguing, and ‘about’ pages give us a glimpse into the lives of those we communicate with over the internet. You do a wonderful job of capturing the essence of the people you photograph, which is one of the reasons your pictures are such a joy to view.

What part of India are you from, if you don’t mind me asking?
