I am a photographer based out of India. My passion lies in capturing images of people I’m intrigued by—their faces, the stories behind them, their lifestyles, cultures, and traditions. I like endlessly roaming around the streets, wherever I go, and spend time learning and understanding my subjects. Also, as is apparent from my blog, I do have a soft corner for portraits and images in black and white! If you would like to work with me for assignments and commissioned works, get in touch with me here.
About This Photoblog:
On August 1, 2008 I started this photoblog to showcase the images of people that I shoot and creating images for this photoblog has always been an exciting and fulfilling challenge. As a mark of my fondness for black and white, this site uses only different shades of grey for all its elements.
The Image Reflection came in the Top 500 category in the Nat Geo Moment Awards 2011.
The image Traditional pottery making came in the top 10 in the ‘Altered Images’ category of the Smithsonian magazine’s 7th annual photo contest from more than 60,000 entries they received from all over the world.
My entry Monsoon wait was amongst the top 20 finalists for the Nikon-Better Photography Photographer of the Year 2009 Awards from 40,000 plus entries. My entry was nominated in the Landscapes & Cityscapes theme.

First, let me just say that your photographs are powerful in their tremendous conveyance of humanity and the beauty of the people whose lives are worth so much, yet who are unseen, unheard and held down in this day and age.
Outernational is an independent band that is working very hard to get its revolution rock (music about the emancipation of humanity) out to a new generation. We are about to release new music, an EP called ‘Here Is The Rose’ which is made up of four songs, stories about women…. I am attaching one of the songs to this email for you to listen and enjoy.
We love your photograph and would like to use it as the cover art this upcoming release. The release is just around the corner, as we are going to announce it online by February 1st. Initially, the songs will be available as a free download and then in the spring we will put them for sale on our website and print up a couple hundred CDs to give to radio stations and people in the music industry, as well as some fans.
I would love to use your photograph and expose a whole new audience to this work from India. I would like your permission and would like to work something out. Unfortunately, we are of very meager means and our funding is scarce right now and, as such we cannot offer much if any money. Please let me know if this is something we can possibly work out. Joshi, You continue to inspire me with these beautiful faces. So much character captured…no…EXPRESSED through a superb cameraman’s lenses, light, and angles. Thank you.
Hi Joshi, trying to get in touch with you regarding an invitation I wanted to extend to you. Is there a phone number I can reach you at? (you can email it to me with a convinient time to call you). Neha
I recently signed up to WordPress and started up a photo blog. Over the past couple of weeks i’ve looked at TONS of photo blogs trying to find ones that will inspire me and what I can honestly say is your images have blown me away, they are some of the best I’ve seen and have left some lasting impressions. So for that I say thank you very much!!!
Hi Joshi, Shovon here. I do weird stuff on a blog called India Update. I think you’ve seen a few. I want to do something, which is kind of a fake research report on Facebook, in a series of postings, called ‘The Trilokpuri Incident’. I have always loved the humanity in your pictures. Would you by any chance have any pictures of a poor Sikh person – man, or woman? The victims were mostly poor people, because they were easier to kill. I need one for the cover of the FB page. I can’t pay you anything because I’m not making any money. In any case, if any money were to ever come out of this, it should obviously go to the survivors. Can you help with a shot? I’d be very grateful. After the first couple of posts in the series, if you’re offended or annoyed, I’ll remove it. But I can’t start this without the right picture. It goes without saying that I would acknowledge you. Cheers! Shovon

Cheers! Shovon
