Achappam (Rosette cookies) is a sweet deep-fried snack traditionally made in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is made using rice flour. An iron mould (Achu) is used in its preparation to give it its unique shape.

  2. Woah! We Malaysian Chinese also have similar cookies that we eat during Chinese New Year. We call it Beehive/Honeycomb Cookies or Kuih Loyang. I always thought that it is originated from Malay! Very interesting!
