A worker carrying Mawa cake at B. Merwan and Co. | Grant Road, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
B. Merwan and Co. is a century old bakery and Iranian cafe in Grant Road, Mumbai, India. Their speciality is the Mawa cake pictured here. Mawa cakes are buttery tea cakes that are infused with cardamom.

Those cakes certainly look delicious. I want one :) Another great shot, Joshi. I like how you managed to capture the worker looking upwards to the side…must be on the lookout for the next batch of cakes ;)
An outstanding photo. Everything from the facial expression to the pastries just looks great. The color tones really give the image a real life feel. Keep up amazing work!
I really admire your use of light, throughout your work and in this image in particular. And this also inspired me to look up a recipe for mawa cake, which sounds delicious.
I’m so loving browsing all your lovely photos of everyday things that have passed and reading the stories that accompany them. Thank you for taking the time to share the images and the beautiful stories behind them all. It really IS like we are there with you. It reminds me of Tolkien’s quote “I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay… small acts of kindness and love”.
Great Post .
. . . I think I would like them if it weren’t for the cardamon . . .

Here again, after a long break.
Your photos, or the last ones, are so great as usual.

Somehow you made this pic surreal.
Merwan is an icon in Mumbai. The worker looks like he is thinking….in how many minutes will this tray empty, making me go for another load?
