Lovely portrait joshi. The eyes of the sadhu really are fiery. Was he mad at you when u were taking his photograph? And i am curious!! Who is a naga sadhu!?
i feel like the Naga Sadhu is knowing all about me…like he can see through me and i don’t find him menacing at all. Perhaps if i was there i would’ve started crying…
looking at ur shots makes me wish…so many wishes. :) :) :)
I looked at your other photos of Sadhus, very interesting . I tried to see him in another way than menacing and he looks like he is thinking about something or taking on the suffering of the world. Do you talk to these people before taking their photo? This is an interesting sect.
excellent capture! I love that you got almost all of his beard. That must be hard for him to keep clean all the time. And obviously in this picture it is not! hehe.
Very nice portraits you have here. I don’t see that look as menacing but the typical serious look you sometimes get with elders in that part of the world.
Incredible capture – you can almost “hear” the stories of his journey through this lifetime etched in his face! :)
Wow, Joshi! :-)
Everytime I see a pic of Naga Sadhu’s its a feeling of mixed emotions. Incredible capture.
Awesome!
Oh wow his face has much character love it!
Thank you, Joshi.
You show me things I can’t imagine ever seeing in my life if not for your photos. I’ll be studying this one more. It’s remarkable.

At first glance, he does look menacing. But when I look closely, he appears more concerned than menacing.
Cool capture. He looks really menacing

Your photo describes him without words. GREAT !!!!

I read more, I see that he puts ashes on his body, must be a religious ritual. Very interesting

Absolutely impressive portrait! Works very well as B&W.
One more of those excellent black&white portraits of Joshi! I see a suspicious and not a menacing look though
Lot of detailes in facial expression. To me Naga sadhu represents liberation.

I’m not sure what the story is behind this guy, but I’d like to know what it is!
That expression you’ve captured is gold. : ) Great photo, joshi.
Also, why do you give such controversial titles? :p *runs*

Love this shot!!
Intensity is beautifully captured
Your portraiture is always breathtaking, and often thought-provoking as well. Menacing? World-weary perhaps, and wise. But definitely stern :)
Stunning detail! And the light illuminating his face is so beautiful! Well done! :)
you create such incredible, evocative portraits- bravo!
Very nice portraits you have here. I don’t see that look as menacing but the typical serious look you sometimes get with elders in that part of the world.

Great captured!
I have wondered how approachable the Sadhu are. This man certainly does look like he prefers his own company. Another great portrait, Joshi.
Hardly menacing. Simply stunning, Josh!
