The make-up
Ottam Thullal is a classical performing art of Kerala, India. It’s a solo dance in which one actor adorning colourful costumes recites dance songs to the accompaniment of drums and cymbals. The Ottam Thullal artist uses native pigments, called manayola (yellow), chayillyam (red), neelam (blue) and mashi (black), mixed with coconut oil or water, for his facial make-up.
