Itinerant | Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India | 2009
An itinerant who beats himself with rope for a living.
The colors, the whip, the expression.. well captured!
love the colors on this…beautiful capture!
yea very well captured….d light is fallin well too..nice one bro!!
beautiful frame and colors … shows that u r even better outdoors with natural lights!
So people pay him to beat him self? Is this like a surrogate punishment?
A colourful occupation? This seems odd but fascinating. He seems to be enjoying his work. Nice portrait of life Joshi. Your passion for investigating life shows well.
That’s a street shot and the lighting is so skillfully controlled as though its shot in a studio. Beautiful shot Joshi.
Superbe image. On pense à une couverture de livre en voyant celle-ci.
Great colors, and the expression is definitely there…..
Incredible quality, a polished perfection as with all of your photographs. The beating side of things sounds awful. A marvellous image
nice one . ur pics focuses the subject so sharply yet so serenly .
Very pretty and so colorful !
excellent work..the contrast of the shadow n the colors…n also the expressions..wonderful..
This is so rich in color and texture. Beautifully captured.
nice pic…but if u observe the boy and the rope….the sound of the rope breaks out before it reaches its body…,
d way these people beat dem wit rope is a merciless act…wen i see dem doing dis on road i prefer not to watch…though beating is mericless ur image luks marveloous….. believe me d way u hav captured d subject gives d act soothing/serene apperance to eyes….nic 1…
great work, again rich colors, nice potrait. The guy looks that concentrated
Looks more like a dancer than a self-flagellator. Lovely image.
Excellent colors and gesture against himself.
It could also be a lot darker to only see the face, arm and shoulder, maybe
the vivid colors are totally awesome and Light management is exceptional for a street photgraph. And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect!
You capture the colors so nice. Beautiful picture.
Dynamique portrait and wonderful colors. I like your treatment.
Great capture and great colors.
An incredible moment in time! Love the beautiful lighting and colours
masterfully captures the time, you managed to catch the barely visible emotion
You’ve got some really nice processing techniques. I find that a lot of people are pushing processing (curves, saturation, etc.) way too far, but you’re keeping the ‘filmic’ look beautifully.
Wonderful disturbing contrast between the beauty of the image and the moment itself. Is this a common street “act”?
amazing street shot … the mood touch me!!!
very interesting work, excellent capture and great colours.
very strange way of life but gorgeous photo!!
This is exceptional portrait ! What a spectacular photo!
Sounds like an oxymoron. Beat himself for a living. What kind of living is that?!
The capture is great and important, I was never aware that such thing exists…
Un festival de couleurs, c’est très beau !
great capture. its a good reminder that we should be thankful for the jobs we have.
Very colourful and full of life and movement. Excellent capture.

I love the streets of India and this is a wonderful capture, so colorful and in contrast with what he’s doing for a living!
